THURLES V CLONAKILTY

Thurles ladies were at home Saturday 17th against clonakilty.

Thurles started strong and within 8 minutes got over the line from Gemma dunican with a great chase and tackle to secure her own ball and try. Converted by captain Eimear Ryan.

Our lead was not to be for very long as a long phase of play saw thurles infringe in the ruck , giving way to a penalty within scoring distance , and clonakilty got off the mark for 3 points.

A nice interception from a well read piece of play saw clonakilty go over the line for their 1st and only try of the day, the converted , leaving the score 10 -7 .

Thurles responded really well and very fast with Katie Jones running over the line for a well worked try from one side of the field to the other passing through nearly everyone's hands , Katie seamlessly ran over for her try. Not converting this time we went to half time 12 - 10 up.

A much quieter second half saw exchanges of play from both teams look threatening, but however good defense from both side saw efforts in vain.

We did create more chance and got held up on the line twice in the second half.

Quick thinking and pressure from 2 successive line outs saw a penalty given in thurles favour, and kaitlyn Callanan left nothing in the tank as she bulldozed her way over the line for a try.

The game ended at 17 - 10 win to thurles.

As the ladies team make it 3 wins from 3 . They can take away alot today to bring back to the training field and work on getting things running smoother.

Well done ladies
