Clonakilty v Thurles
U14 Pan munster cup QF
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thurles travelled to West Cork Saturday morning to play the winners of group 1 in the Munster Cup. The U14s have found the step up to the top flight competition hard going as they played all the best teams in munster at this age grade, but they didn't shy back from the tasks in front of them and they have to be commended on how well they applied themselves and to reach as far as they did to the knock-out stages.Thurles started very brightly and took the lead after only 3 minutes after a big carry off the back of the scrum from Charlie long set up Eamon Quigley to crash over and take a 5-0 lead. But Clonakilty hit back strong and showed their class and ran up a big lead by the half. The second half didn't get much easier, and a Thurles team under pressure made some silly errors, and Clon capitalised on them. But to the credit of this young team the rallied and got going and pulled back a few tries of their own Charlie long again was involved in everything good that Thurles tried to do and got a try of his own. Long made another big break, and Rory Morris was very unlucky not to get another one back. The Thurles backs made a good brea, and Tom Corcoran was on the end of a move and got in for another try. Then in the last minute it was Danny Corcoran who scored Thurles last try to keep up his very impressive try scoring rate this year over all Thurles we're soundly beaten but can take a lot of positives and learnings from their run in the Munster Cup it's back to the the East munster cup now with the end of the season fast approaching.
