U16s East Munster Cup
Thurles : 12
Cashel : 24

This was our third meeting this year, Thurles suffered two big defeats against Cashel earlier on in the season. As expected Cashels confidence was fairly high going into this game.
The first half saw a massive improvement from Thurles compared to our previous clashes. With more possession and time spend in Cashels half of the field.
From the start Thurles put big pressure on Cashel forcing them backwards and forcing turn overs, through big tackles. Thurles spend the first 10 minutes in the Cashel 22, but were unable to get a score. Cashel put the first points on the board on their first visit to the Thurles 22 with a converted try.
Shortly after they added another unconverted try. Thurles had an opportuinity to add 3 points with a penalty in front of the posts, but opted to tap and go, a knock-on from Thurles gave relief to Cashel.
Thurles eventually scored before half time through a Finn Green try, to leave the score 12-5 at half time.

The second half saw Cashel take more control of the game. The got a try but failed to add the extra 2 point to go 17-5 ahead. The fustration in the Cashel side was evident and resulted in 2 yellow cards to bring their side down to 13 for a period.  From a 5 metre penalty, Ciaran O Mahony was held short of the line and in the next phase Luke Ryan was just short of getting over. Cashel turned the ball over and cleared their lines. But Thurles were shortly, back in the same position with another penalty and this time after a few phases Luke Ryan powered over for 5 points and Danial Groome added the extra 2 points to bring the score to 17-12.
In the last play of the game Cashel scored a converted try to put the score at 24-12. The scoreboard wasnt a true reflection of the effort put in by Thurles. All that took to the field gave a 100%. With stand out performances from young Niall Kelly, Ciaran O Mahony and Conn Fogarty.
Our front row of all u15s Niall Kelly, Finn Green and Evan Connolly, were up against a much larger and well drilled front row but held their own.
