U14 East Muster cup
Thurles v Waterpark
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thurles U14s kicked off their EMC campaign against Waterpark on Saturday, in what was definitely a game of two halfs. Waterpark got off yo a blistering start and ran in 5 unanswered trys with 4 converted to leave the score 0-33 at the end of the half. Thurles made changed this up for the second half and after a good team talk at the half Thurles came out on a mission which was spearheaded by the return of Paddy Ryan who only took 2 minutes to get on the score sheet and Daithi Dunne converted 7-33. Thurles were a different beast in this half with crunching tackles coming in from Charlie Long and Mason butler in the forwards and Tommy Stapleton and Paddy Ryan in the backs, Waterpark kicked to clear their lines, but the ball was picked up by Danny Corcoran on the left wing in his own half, where he went on a looping run across the field and scored in the corner of thr right wing for a great individual try 12-33. Next up was Charlie Long, who broke down the blind side off the scrum to score in the corner for a great try 17-33. Thurles were back in it with all the momentum and it was Paddy Ryan again who made a big break and had Daithi Dunne on his shoulder for the off load to score under the posts and Daithi duly converted his own score to leave it 24-33. With all the Thurles boys pushing hard it was Paddy Ryan who found a gap and scored under the post and Daithi Dunne converted to leave it 31-33 at the final whistle, this was a great display of heart and determination to get back into the game. There were big performances from the pack and the backs, and it was great to see Paddy Ryan back in full flow and a special mention to Odran Doyle and Senan Joyce, who played their first game for Thurles this team progress to the Shield now and we wish them the best of luck going forward. Thanks to all who brought snacks etc after the game. Much appreciated.
