U13 East Munster Cup
SEMI-FINAL
THURLES V WATERFORD
25th Mar 2025
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The U13s played their home semi-final Tuesday evening under lights in Thurles. The day didn't start so well with 3 big players crying off during the day through injury, so this was going to be a real test of character for the squad, and they answered in the fashion that a great team would by turning up and putting in a powerful performance with the boys fitting in Seamlessly after 3 changes and a further 3 positional changes. Thurles started with real fire, and after only 2 minutes in Eamon Quigley crashed over the 5-0 Thurles. From the restart, Thurles took control again with powerful running from the forwards it was Harry Carroll who powered over 12-0 Thurles. Waterford settled a bit and got on some ball, but the Thurles' defence was up for anything that came their way and stamped out any treats City threw at them. Then, on 13 mins, team captain Alex Macormack crashed over off a ruck 17-0 Thurles. After a very dominant display and on the stroke of half time, it was Eamon Quigley who got over again to leave it 22-0 at the half. The second half started like the first, with Harry Carroll getting in after 3 minutes and Shea Fogarty kicking the extras 29-0. Thurles were running everything and looking very comfortable on the ball handling, and passing was very Sharp and after great skill from killing cleary Adam Macloughlin got in gor his first Competitive try and this time it was Daithi Dunne add the extra 2 to leave it 36-0. With time almost up, it was Conor Guinan who also got his first competitive try to leave it 41-0. This was the most satisfying result of the year as it shows how far this squad has progressed as a team. Everyone played brilliantly, and thanks to all the boys who stepped up and did a top-class job in the forwards, Harry Carroll and Eamon Quigley were just pipped by Mason Butler who was player of the match in the backs Shea Forgarty Daithi Dunne and Tommy Stapleton aslo played very well. This team march on to the Cup final, and we wish this team and their coaches the very best of luck.
