Thurles Women v Ballincollig

Sunday October 19th saw Thurles Women take on a strong Ballincollig team in the Munster Division 2 cup final in Cashel.

Thurles had a dream start with two tries in the first 10 minutes through prop Kerry Mc Cormack and Centre Niamh Ryan, both converted by scrum half Abby Noonan. The women worked tirelessly throughout the field and added a third through centre Gemma Dunican, leaving the scoreline 19-0 halfway through the first half.
Ballincollig responded with a well worked try of their own, before Thurles number 8 Eimer Ryan powered over from close range to make the half time score 24-5 to the thurles women.

The second half saw thurles produce more of the same, with excellent team work, handling and tackling. Kaitlyn Callanan finished off a well worked team try in the opening minutes of the second half, with Noonan adding the extras. Ballincollig were not done however, and added another try of their own leaving the scoreline 31-10 with 20 minutes to play. The closing quater was a back and forth affair, with both teams throwing bodies on the line and fighting for every inch on the pitch. Ballincollig added a third, before Thurles wingers Erin Foley and Emma Coleman combined for a scintillating try, with Coleman crossing the line after a fantastic break from Foley. Abby Noonan added the conversation.

Final Score 38-17 to Thurles.
