Thurles U14s v Bruff
Thurles U14s played Bruff in a challenge match in Thurles Sunday morning. The pitch was in great condition considering all the rain that fell this week it's a credit to the ground staff. Thurles started brightly, and after some powerful play from the forwards deep into the Bruff 22, the backs moved the ball wide, and a great pass from Shea Forgarty hit Daithi Dunne and he got into the corner with a hard conversion left the score 5-0 Thurles. Bruff came back very strong and found their feet with strong carrys from their big forwards and hit Thurles with 3 try's to take a commanding lead into the break 17-5 to Bruff.
Thurles knuckled down and clawed their way back into it after a great break by Tommy Stapleton, who was stopped short of the line after a quick ruck Danny Corcoran got over and the conversion from Shea Forgarty left the score 17-12 to Bruff. Bruff pushed back and extended their lead with 3 points from the boot 20-12 Bruff. Thurles were in a battle and came back strong with a great try from killian Cleary and 2 from the boot from Shea Forgarty 20-19 Bruff. It was anybody game now, and it was Thurles who produced the goods with another big break from Tommy Stapleton got Thurles on the front foot and great play from killian Cleary put the new man Tommy Rice away to score in the corner in his first game for Thurles and with a great conversion from Shea Forgarty left the score 26-20 Thurles.
In the last 17 Thurles rang the changes and all the squad got a good run out which sets this team up for their East Munster league quarter-final in Thurles next Sunday 23rd at 11 oc against Dungarvan best of luck to the boys.
